Follow your heart and stop waiting on people

Waiting on people is like waiting for a ship that will never sail. It's like waiting for a boat that will not leave it's port. How often do we underachieve because we're waiting for so and so, waiting for things to change, waiting for others to jump on board? I know I have REGULARLY. A lot of us seek change, but we want others to bring it. It is my firm belief that we all have a mission and purpose on this earth. We cannot afford to wait for others to realize it. We have to realize our mission and actively pursue it. If you don't know it, you have to search for it. You cannot wait while life passes you by. Don't wait while opportunities go past you.

A life without motivation is like a fire near it's end. One's life and outlook is filled with vibrancy when motivation is present. Hope and Motivation go hand in hand. It's hope that gives one the motivation to hold on, the motivation to keep going on and pushing hard. The opposite of hope is doubt. But what's worse, if not greater, is waiting, waiting for Change. We cannot wait indefinitely. Some wait indefinitely just hoping that someday he'll stop beating me, someday she'll stop lying to me, maybe one day he'll stop cheating on me, maybe one day they'll treat me better, maybe one day I'll be appreciated, maybe one day I'll be understood, maybe one day they'll grow up, maybe one day they'll be better people. Waiting for people is like waiting for a ship that will never sail. You cannot wait for people to love you so you can love yourself, you have to love yourself regardless. Don't wait to be treated with respect so you can respect yourself, respect yourself nevertheless. Don't wait for others to give you your rights, treat you like a human being, treat you fairly so you can start living in freedom and as a human being. Start living as a free human being now regardless of what others may think. You cannot wait for popular opinion/consent to be on your side. You cannot wait for a popular vote to follow your dreams or popular approval to reach to the highest heights. Besides your inaction only shows that you're in agreement with whatever others make of you. What others think or say does not change who one is. As far as I'm concerned, it's only God who can speak things into existence. If anything, his words should be the most important and life changing.

A good example would be Dr. Martin Luther King. King was A man who would not wait for others to bring change, for others to give him his rights, for others to treat him as a human being. He went ahead and acknowledged his rights and his equality in a society that had no regards for him whatsoever or for other minorities. Many in the civil rights movement, like King, couldn't wait for others to give them their rights. They acknowledged they had rights, and treated themselves like humans with rights. Because of these courageous people, we owe our liberties.

Barack Obama is a modern example of an individual who sought change all the way to the nation's highest office. He didn't wait for others to bring it, he didn't wait for popular consent, he had dreams, goals and aspirations. He followed these and will soon become the 44th president of the United States of America.

One of the saddest things in life is to see potential going to waste. So go ahead, reach for the stars. Don't wait to be understood or settle with moving along with the pace. If the pace is too slow Go ahead, lead the pact, set the pace of the race. Some of us were meant to be leaders, we were meant to do so much more.

Teacher Ties Up Two Black Students to Exemplify Slavery: Too Excessive?

I am pretty sure everybody knows this story by now,but if you dont...here you go:

A white social studies teacher attempted to enliven a seventh-grade discussion of slavery by binding the hands and feet of two black girls, prompting outrage from one girl’s mother and the local chapter of the NAACP. After the mother complained to Haverstraw Middle School, the superintendent said he was having “conversations with our staff on how to deliver effective lessons.” “If a student was upset, then it was a bad idea,” said Superintendent Brian Monahan of the North Rockland School District in New York City’s northern suburbs. The teacher apologized to the mother who complained and her 13-year-old daughter during a meeting Thursday that also included a representative of the local NAACP. But the mother, Christine Shand of Haverstraw, said Friday she thinks the teacher should be removed from the class. “I think the teacher should have gotten some discipline,” Shand said. “I know if that was me, I would be uncomfortable going back to that class. Why should my daughter have to switch?” Monahan refused to say what, if any, measures were taken against the teacher, Eileen Bernstein, who was still working on Friday. The school district said she was not available for comment. “We encourage our teachers to deliver the curriculum in a variety of ways, to go beyond just reading the textbook,” the superintendent said. “We don’t want to discourage creativity. But this obviously went wrong because the student was upset.” On Nov. 18, Bernstein was discussing the conditions under which African captives were taken to America in slave ships. She bound the two students’ hands and feet with tape and had them crawl under a desk to simulate the experience, Monahan and Shand said. Monahan said the girls were not the only blacks in the class. Gabrielle Shand burst into tears at home, her mother said.

“There are other ways to demonstrate slavery,” Christine Shand said Friday. “It doesn’t matter the color of the kids, it’s just not right to tie them up. My daughter is still upset, still embarrassed. She didn’t go to school today.”

Well in my opinion, this teacher did go too far, but I believe that the media is milking this story as far as they can. Who knows what the real story is? I mean these children are in seventh grade, therefore they have a voice. They could have resisted the teacher and stated that they did not want to be bounded. The only issue with this story is the fact that the children were black. The teacher should have chosen children from any racial background. But that's just my opinion. In "Brooklyn (Go Hard)", Jay-Z samples Santogold's "Shove It," for an ode to Brooklyn. And, indeed, it goes hard. The song will be on the soundtrack for "Notorious," the Notorious B.I.G. biopic (in theatres January).



Also, Drake (or Jimmy from Degrassi) has made a cute little remix to Lykke Li's "Little Bit." With a special appearance by that damn auto tune. Can that trend be over already *cough*kanye*cough*? But the auto tune doesn't really take away from the song, so I approve.
